U.S. Post Office Building - Oregon
Client: General Services Administration
Site: Portland, Oregon
Constructed in 1918, this six-story U.S. Post Office Building is a limestone-clad Second Renaissance Revival style building. Occupying nearly a full block, the exterior has had few changes, while the interior has been drastically altered in a renovation for office use after the post office moved from the building. The Historic Structure Report evaluated historic and architectural significance and the physical health of the building prior to renovation of interior spaces and general repairs. Few recommendations were made for the already altered interior, since little remained to preserve. Detailed preservation recommendations were made for the exterior of this important building.
