Sullivan Building

Client: Community Developers Group

Site: Louisville, Colorado

The Sullivan Building was originally a drug store on the main street of Louisville, Colorado. Before being purchased by the present owners it was divided down the middle, with the City Police Department in one half and the Planning Department in the other. These departments moved to the new City Hall, and the new owners began a renovation of the building. Market analysis determined small offices and commercial space to be the best use for the building, and a center hallway with a sky lit atrium provided attractive access to the offices and shops, with one central entrance helping to control energy use. The store front was renovated by painting the bright aluminum framing dark, providing an awning across the entire façade, painting the bright yellow brick utilizing a special technique to make it appear like old flashed red brick, and redesign of the deep sidewalk area in front using tile, planters, and landscaping. The firm was one of the developers, and provided all design services.
