Littleton Depot
Client: City of Littleton, Colorado
Site: Littleton, Colorado
The historic Denver and Rio Grande Depot in Littleton stood in the midst of a major highway and railroad upgrade project initiated by the City of Littleton in 1982. The 1875 stone building was threatened with demolition unless it could be moved to a new location. For this project, the firm prepared an Historic Structure Report documenting the building’s original and current appearance, changes that had been made to the building, and the condition of its materials. Concerns included treatment of the original corrugated metal roof, removal of paint from the stone, and preservation of railroad equipment at the new location. The firm also prepared plans and specifications for the building’s successful relocation, preliminary plans for restoration of the exterior, and a detailed maintenance plan.
