Coeur d’Alene Mine Building

The Coeur d’Alene Mine Building is located on a steep slope above Central City, a historic 19th-century, Colorado mining community. Once known as the “richest square mile on earth,” Central City mining is a significant and colorful part of Colorado history, which deserves preservation. The Coeur d’Alene Mine Building is a landmark visible from everywhere in Central City, and deterioration threatened its survival. A stabilization plan was devised to arrest the deterioration and, while complete rehabilitation is not presently contemplated, this landmark will not disappear through neglect.
