Boise United States Post Office & Courthouse

Client: General Services Administration

Site: Boise, Idaho

The United States Post Office and Courthouse at Boise, Idaho is a four-story Second Renaissance Revival style building of stone, brick and terra cotta, built in 1905. A major addition was made in 1930, and small changes have continued to the present day. The Historic Structure Report evaluated the historic and architectural significance and physical health of this building. The work proposed for this building involved repainting and repair of cracks in a basement wall, which would have a minor impact on the building. With a history of small but continuous changes, however, the remaining historic details held greater significance and needed to be evaluated to determine the most effective restoration methods to use in order to protect them from future alterations.
