Bloom House
Client: Colorado Historical Society
Site: Trinidad, Colorado
The Collaborative was selected by the Colorado Historical Society to prepare plans and specifications for preservation of the Bloom Mansion, one of the impressive homes that is part of the Trinidad History Museum. Frank Bloom, a cattle baron and banker, and his wife Sarah had the house constructed in 1882. It was built in the Second Empire style using locally manufactured brick. The house still contains some of the Bloom’s original furnishings. The preservation project included a number of aspects: reroofing; repointing of each chimney as needed; masonry pier replacement; repair and replacement of wooden porch features; repair window frames and sashes; paint woodwork and metal features.
