The Blanding Arts and Events Center is a unique facility in the heart of southeastern Utah. Located in Blanding, Utah, the B.A.E.C. is a cooperative effort of the College of Eastern Utah - San Juan Campus, the City of Blanding, and The Edge of the Seaters Theater Company. Created for the purpose of economic development through business and the arts it is the only facility of its kind in a 250 miles radius. The new facility serves both the larger community of Blanding, the College itself and the nearby surrounding communities with its dance, theater, and art programs. Built upon the edge of Westwater Canyon on the campus of the College of Eastern Utah San Juan Campus, this beautiful complex provides a picturesque setting for indoor and outdoor theater, small conference and convention meetings, trade shows, civic events, arts and craft fairs, wedding receptions, concerts, and business meetings. The B.A.E.C. is home to the San Juan County's Small Business Development Center (SBDC). Within the facility is space for incubating businesses coupled with staff support and technology for newly starting businesses in the area. Dean Brookie of the Collaborative, inc., designed this $1 million facility, to be both architecturally significant and harmonious to its mesa top location on the College of Eastern Utah’s San Juan campus. Mr. Brookie’s design was carefully developed to focus on the site’s fabulous views of the Sleeping Ute and La Sal Mountains, and nearby Monument Valley. The project was funded by EDA, local funds, and the Utah State Legislature.
